Mark Douglass has been leading glassworks practitioner for the past 25 years and is committed to expanding his discipline and practice based on meticulous research and development. For the past decade Douglass has tested the material and conceptual conventions of glass to produce objects and installations that signal and lead distinct evolutions in the discipline and history of artists working with glass. What prevails in Douglass’ career is a high degree of ambition not only for his own work but for the intersection of glass traditions with multidisciplinary contemporary practices. Douglass was awarded the Winston Churchill Trust Fellowship in recognition of his impressive body of work and contribution to the Australian glassblowing industry.
