Drew Spangenberg's blown glasswork is elegant, whimsical and funky. He executes challenging pieces with integrity and confidence. His fine glass vessels compliment each other in careful compositions that harmoniously juxtapose form and colour. As a musician he feels a connection between playing music and the rhythm and co-ordination required in the glass blowing process. Arranging glass vessels into complimentary compositions as he would, a piece of music.
Drew's First Solo exhibition titled Equipoise, explores themes of composition, positive and negative space, balance and form. Glass acts as a perfect medium with the glass blowing process demanding precision, focus and accuracy. Groupings of fine, elegant large vessels and goblets sit together enticing the viewer to draw with the eye. Some groupings are coloured and bright while others are subtle tones. The exhibition includes lighting, large bottles and goblets.
